Sonic the Hedgehog will sound the same in upcoming games, as voice actor Roger Craig Smith confirmed he will be back. The actor took to Twitter to note that he’ll once again voice the character in games. He didn’t specifically mention any upcoming titles.
Here’s Smith’s statement regarding his upcoming roles as Sonic the Hedgehog’s voice actor. In it, he “fixed” the broken heart from a past announcement. He was the voice actor for the character since 2010.
I can’t fully express my gratitude for the @sonic_hedgehog crew and community.????
I hope to honor your support and passion as I’m officially back voicing #SonicTheHedgehog in games.
Can’t wait for ya to see what we have planned!
THANK YOU…from the bottom of my blue heart.???? pic.twitter.com/KOLi2MJnUi

Back in January 2021, Smith announced he would no longer be the Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor on Twitter. He didn’t explicitly mention the character or role, but shared a blue heart, included a hedgehog emoji, and mentioned it being “an amazing run” and heading to “new zones.” Sega later confirmed it.
This comes ahead of a May 27, 2021 Sonic Central stream going over new Sonic the Hedgehog projects. It could talk about new games, the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, and the Sonic Prime Netflix show.
