Nintendo has released new merchandise items inspired by the tiny Korok race from The Legend of Zelda series in Japan. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The collection consists of various kinds of items based on the Korok masks. It includes a set of uchiwa fans, a net tote bag, a hand towel, a mug cup, elastic hair bands, and small pouches. The items’ prices range from 770 yen (~$7) to 3,300 yen (~$30).
The Korok merchandise items are immediately available to purchase on the My Nintendo Store web store in Japan. Some of the items have even sold out within hours since the opening. Although Nintendo also planned to sell the items physically at Nintendo Tokyo, the store is currently closed due to the coronavirus state of emergency.
Korok is a race of tiny wooden people known for wearing leaf masks. They first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker as Kokiris that had transformed. The Koroks are currently most well-known for their appearances in Breath of the Wild. In the latest mainline Zelda game released to date, finding the hidden Koroks would help Link expand his inventory. They also returned with a similar purpose in BoTW‘s action game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker received an HD version for the Wii U in 2013. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity are immediately available on the Nintendo Switch.
