Square Enix has started sales of a first-ever official picture book based on MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. It is titled Final Fantasy XIV’s Picture Book: Namazu and Something No One Has Ever Seen Before. It will cost 1,300 JPY (approximately $12). The book is currently available from the Square Enix online store. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
The premise of the book is that a drought is affecting the small village of Namazu. A Namazu must show an Odder Otter “something no one has ever seen before” in order to get them to make it rain. The search starts from figuring out what the Namazu should even go find.
The author of Namazu and Something No One Has Ever Seen Before is Banri Oda, who is in charge of the game’s main scenario and world lore creator. The illustrator is Hiroyuki Nagamine, who handles character concept design for Final Fantasy XIV. Though the source game has an ESRB rating of T and a CERO rating of C, the book’s simple and happy story is written for children.
Final Fantasy XIV’s Picture Book: Namazu and Something No One Has Ever Seen is available in the Square Enix online shop but there is currently no news about an English localization. A physical photobook for in-game screenshots is also available in Japan. Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and OS X.
