The latest Super Mario Party update will allow players to participate in online play during the game’s main mode, along with several other modes. This includes the option to play online in the two versus two mode, and access the mini-games in online play. Nintendo has outlined how to access this update and what this update entails on its official website. [Thanks, Nibel!]
As always, in order to access this update players must have access to the internet. Players also need a subscription to the Nintendo Online service to access online play. A total of two ways to play online will be available. Friend Match allows players to match with friends, while the Private Game mode lets users to set up a lobby using a password.
While some mini-games will be available to play online, there are a few exceptions. A total of ten mini-games will not be available to access through online play in Super Mario Party. This includes:
- Strike It Rich
- Time to Shine
- Take a Stab
- All-Star Swingers
- Rhythm and Bruise
- Pep Rally
- Wiped Out
- Fiddler on the Hoof
- Clearing the Table
- Baton and On
However, a total of seventy mini-games are available to access in total. Additionally, in the two versus two mode, players will have access to all maps and characters regardless of progression in online play.
Super Mario Party is immediately available for Nintendo Switch. The update patch that will allow for online play will arrive sometime on April 27, 2021.
