Video game developer and publisher Quantic Dream released an official statement regarding allegations made against it since 2018. The company’s statement comes off the heels of a new ruling by the Paris Court of Appeals. The court overturned a previous judgment against Quantic Dream on April 7, 2021. A former employee of Quantic Dream accused the studio of toxic corporate culture and financial malpractice in January 2018. Furthermore, the former employee accused staff and representatives of misogynistic, sexist, homophobic, and racist behavior. On April 7, 2021, the Paris Court of Appeals overturned a ruling against Quantic Dream. The company’s official statement said, “The latest ruling on April 7 dismissed all the employee’s claims, ordering them to pay substantial damages to Quantic Dream.” According to GamesIndustry.biz, this figure is over ten thousand euro.

Additionally, Quantic Dream’s strongly worded statement claimed both current and former employees who denied these accusations in 2018 became targets for online attacks. The company accused the attackers of operating under false identities in a smear campaign. Quantic Dream claimed that the allegations damaged the studio’s “honor and reputation.” It elaborated further that its intention for releasing the latest statement was to “set the record straight.”

Founded by David Cage in 1997, Quantic Dream is a Paris-based video game developer. The studio is known for its cinematic games that focus on interactive storytelling, such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human.
