Super Smash Bros Ultimate Monster Hunter Event

SSBU Monster Hunter Spirit Event Will Add Magnamalo, Palico and Palamute

Following Monster Hunter Rise‘s release at the March 2021, Nintendo is celebrating in Super Smash Bros Ultimate with a new Monster Hunter Spirit Event. Starting on April 2, 2021, the SSBU event will last five days and will add three new Monster Hunter spirits: Magnamalo, Palico, and Palamute.

The event was announced via the official Super Smash Bros Ultimate JP Twitter account.

The Palico spirit will be a one-star Novice Support Spirit. People who equip it will start with a Ramblin’ Evil Mushroom, and players will need to fight a Pikachu to earn the Palico. As an aside, the Spirit Battle will also feature the Pitfall Seed item condition, likely a reference to the Monster Hunter franchise’s Pitfall Trap item.

The Palamute spirit will be a two-star Advanced Attack Spirit and will be available after fighting Duck Hunt. The Spirit will come with the Move Speed Increase skill, perhaps a nod to the mount’s fast movement speed in Monster Hunter Rise.

Finally, the Magnamalo spirit will be a three-star Ace Attack Spirit with a Fist Attack Increase skill. The Spirit battle features a Giant Bowser, with the Uncontrollable Speed, Defense, and Attack Increase conditions to reference Monster Hunter Rise‘s flagship monster.

As a reminder, Monster Hunter Mii Fighter DLC appeared back in March and included Palico and Hunter Armor costumes.

Both Monster Hunter Rise and Super Smash Bros Ultimate are immediately available on the Nintendo Switch. The Monster Hunter Rise Spirit Event will start from April 2, 2021, and last for five days until April 7, 2021.
