The PlayStation Store webpage that once allowed consumers to purchase PS3, PSP, and PlayStation Vita tiles is no longer accessible. Instead, the webpage now redirects users to the current version of the PlayStation Store. This information was shared through a ResetEra forum, which had members of the website confirm that the store was no longer available through browsers. [Thanks, ResetEra!]
On March 27, 2021 the reports came in from ResetEra, where many users took to the forum to discuss whether or not the link to the previous store was still accessible through browsers. The website remains inaccessible in Europe, Japan, and North America. Members also reported that the PlayStation Store on console crashes or remains incredibly sluggish.
However, users are still able to purchase PS3 titles through the PlayStation Store available on the console itself. In October 2020, it was reported that Sony would no longer allow users to purchase PS3, PSP, and PlayStation Vita titles outside of the in-console store. That being said, the change hadn’t taken effect until recently.
Recently, Sony announced that more significant structural changes will be happening within the company in the following months. This includes changes regarding new SIE executives, along with engineer and finance changes. Prior to this announcement, several prominent developers within SIE Japan left to create their own studios. This included Keiichiro Toyama, creator of Siren and Silent Hill.
