Square Enix will release analog watches based off of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in September 2021. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]
The watches will cost ¥33,000 (approximately $303 USD). There are two variations for the faces—a 34 mm model and a 39 mm one—and the entire length of the watch is 23.5 cm. A Limited Edition version engraved with a serial number will sell for ¥38,280 (approximately $351.60 USD).
The black-and-silver minimalist design of the watch heavily draws from the aesthetics of its influence, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Cloud’s Cloudy Wolf pattern and Sephiroth’s black feathers pattern are engraved in the face of the watch. The minute details give off the impression of depth and distance, but still makes the watch easy to use in your everyday life. The back of the watch bears the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children logo. As well, the 7 on the clock reads VII instead.
The Limited Edition version is otherwise the same as the normal version. However, the sub-dial uses mother of pearl reminiscent of the Final Fantasy VII’s Lifestream.
You can take a look at the watches here:
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children originally released in 2005 in Japan, and 2006 in North America and the UK. The computer-animated film was a sequel to the widely successful Final Fantasy VII, and took place two years after the events of the game. Aside from watches, Final Fantasy VII also has merchandise such as figures, including the Play Arts Kai Tifa figure that is currently available.
The watches will be available in September 2021.
