In celebration of Mario Day 2021, Nintendo is holding a sale on several first-party games. Fans celebrate Mario Day every year on March 10 due to the abbreviation of “MAR 10” looking similar to the plumber’s name. The titles are on sale in the Nintendo Switch eShop now through March 13, 2021, ending at 11:59 pm PT. Some retailers in America are also price-matching these sales.
According to Nintendo’s official site, only four major games reduced by 35% comprise the Mario Day sale. However, as typical with tent-pole sales, titles published by other studios are jumping in the mix, too. Sega also discounted its game, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Check out the list of Switch games below; all prices reflect their sales before tax.
- Luigi’s Mansion 3Â – $38.99
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020Â – $38.99
- Mario Tennis Aces – $38.99
- Super Mario Maker 2 – $38.99
- Super Mario Party – $38.99
Additionally, several retailers in America have these games price-matched. At the time of this article, Amazon and Best Buy also have many other first-party titles reduced by $10 or more. Some of these games feature Mario, like Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Super Mario 3D All-Stars. However, other Nintendo-published titles where Mario is missing appear to be joining the bandwagon, like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Pokémon Sword and Shield.
The Mario Day Sale will run on the Nintendo eShop through March 13, 2021. Nintendo continues to celebrate the Super Mario series’ 35th anniversary with events in games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Tetris 99.
