The newest patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 has gone live. This patch is the fourth, but last, major patch of this size for Larian Studios’ Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3, according to a statement the company made at the Panel from Hell 2 livestream event. The update adds the Druid class, new cutscenes, and spells to Baldur’s Gate 3. Overall, there are around 15,000 changes that are represented in the update.
The Druid will be able to wield a variety of offensive and healing spells but its definitive trait is its ability to change into a variety of animals through its Wild Shape ability. Players will choose between one of two Druid Circle subclasses, which will each benefit different aspects of the class.
Additionally, a new Loaded Dice option has been added. This option will allow players to influence the outcome of dice rolls if they want, rather than relying strictly on chance and character attributes.
In terms of spells, the Speak with the Dead ability will allow players to engage with corpses through cutscenes and dialogue. Larian Studios founder, Swen Vincke, described the pragmatic element of the spell, stating, “If you killed everybody like an idiot and you didn’t pay attention to the story and don’t know what to do anymore, you can just go talk to their bodies!”
The patch also contains multiple quality-of-life changes, story additions, rebuilt combat encounters, changes to enemy behavior, Razer Chroma support, and instances of rebalancing.
Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have an official release date at the moment, but an Early Access version of the game can be purchased for both Stadia and the PC.
