Super Nintendo World Opening Postponed

The Grand Opening for Super Nintendo World has been postponed. Due to a state of emergency being declared in Osaka, Japan the opening of the brand new attraction at Universal Studios Japan has been delayed. However, a new date for Super Nintendo World’s Grand Opening will be decided once the state of emergency has lifted. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

While Super Nintendo World will make its debut at a later date, the official statement from Universal Studio Japan mentions that the park will remain open during the state of emergency. Universal Studios Japan will cooperate with the policies set in place by the government to significantly limit the amount of visitors.

Recently, Universal Studios Japan released a special promotional website ahead of the planned release of the attraction. This promotional website allows consumers to tour the park in 3D, allowing those at home to get a firsthand look at some of the rides and landmarks they will find in the park. While the opening for Super Nintendo World has been postponed, consumers can still check out the website to tour the park virtually.

Additionally, Nintendo held a special Nintendo Direct to showcase various locations found at the attraction with the broadcast led by none other than Mario series creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Super Nintendo World’s Grand Opening was planned for February 4, 2021. A new opening date has not yet been scheduled.
