The game was released for the Switch in Japan on November 19, 2020. Since then, the latest entry of the long-running board game-style series established a solid track record of sales in a short period of time. Here’s how the game performed in Japan since its launch:
- 500,000 units as of November 24, 2020
- 750,000 units (total units sold) as of December 1, 2020
- 1,000,000 units (total units shipped) as of December 11, 2020
- 1,000,000 units (total units sold) as of December 21, 2020
- 1,500,000 units (total units shipped) as of December 24, 2020
- 1,500,000 units (total units sold) as of December 29, 2020
- 2,000,000 units (total units sold) as of January 8, 2021
Fans of the series initially had concerns about the title being the first game that didn’t feature character designs by Takayuki Doi. Doi, who was one of the creators of the series alongside Akira Sakuma in 1988, joined Bandai Namco in 2019 to work on Billion Road.
Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch in Japan.
