NieR Re[in]carnation Director Daichi Matsukawa also revealed a new trailer during the stream. It showed NieR:Automata characters 2B, 9S, and A2 fighting together as party members in the mobile RPG. The NieR:Automata collaboration content will be available right when Reincarnation launches.

NieR Reincarnation was initially planned to launch in Japan within 2020. The Japanese Apple App Store at one point listed its launch date as December 23, 2020. However, Square Enix announced that the mobile game’s launch would be pushed back to the first half of 2021.

A closed beta test for the mobile game was held in Japan from July 29, 2020 until August 5, 2020. The survey results indicated that while most testers were satisfied with the overall game and the story, many of them were unsatisfied with its gameplay functionality and controls. The development team used results from this survey to focus on optimizing the game ahead of the official launch.

NieR Re[in]carnation will be available for Android and iOS devices in Japan on February 18, 2021. A global English release is also planned for North America and Europe.
