marvels avengers most disappointing game of 2020

Winner(?): Marvel’s Avengers

While there were certainly worse games in 2020, nothing quite fell short of its promise like Avengers. It… plays. It has content. You can play it with friends, if you want! But while the team at Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix worked to build out all the furniture and functionality of a big, AAA multiplayer experience, it looks like no one remembered to make the gameplay interesting. It’s too bad: with the hero selection and narrative twists, it held a lot of potential. Instead, it’s our Most Disappointing Game of 2020.

final fantasy crystal chronicles most disappointing game of 2020

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition

Can a game do the big things badly worse than Crystal Chronicles? It’s hard to say! There was a lot of love and attention in the package — including a robust cross-platform save transfer — but none of that matters if you trip up putting together the multiplayer functionality for a multiplayer game. Some patches have fixed some things. Still not enough of the things. We’ll hang onto our GameCube discs.

cyberpunk 2077 most disappointing game of 2020

Cyberpunk 2077

This… has been covered, we think. High-level technical issues with older platforms? Interminable, constant delays? What the game says about its world and society? Just the uninspired, boring game design? It’s all a recipe for disappointment. But hey: none of this applies to the Nendoroids.
