Japanese musician Utada Hikaru will sing the new theme song for the final Rebuild of Evangelion movie, “One Last Kiss.” The singer-songwriter provided music for every entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. Utada will also release a CD and a vinyl featuring all of her songs for Neon Genesis Evangelion. “One Last Kiss” will release in January 2021.
The digital version of the theme song for the upcoming film Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time will release on iTunes on January 24, 2021. Pre-orders are live now. Utada recorded music for the Evangelion series over the past decade, starting with her cover of “Fly Me To The Moon” in 2007.
To commemorate the finale of the new movie, Utada will release a CD and a 12-inch vinyl record for Evangelion’s “One Last Kiss.” Both the CD and the record will include all of the songs she provided for the series. The CD will feature Shinji on the cover art, while the record’s cover art will feature Rei.
Both versions will contain songs like “One Last Kiss,” “Beautiful World,” “Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-,” “Sakura Nagashi,” “Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words) -2007 MIX-.” All songs will feature brand-new, remastered sound.
The physical CD will cost 2,000 yen (not including tax). The first print run will feature a special paper casing, while the regular edition will feature a standard jewel case. The record will cost 3,000 yen (not including tax).
Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time will release in Japanese theaters on January 23, 2021. Tokyo Skytree will also run an Evangelion promotional event from December 23, 2020 through March 31, 2021.
The single “One Last Kiss” will release on iTunes on January 24, 2021. The physical CD and vinyl record will launch on January 27, 2021.
