Initial D The Arcade was first revealed in a livestream held in July 2020. The main highlight of the new title’s gameplay system is the ability to hold four-player races. This is a brand-new feature for the series, since all prior games only had two-player duels. The character graphics will be based on the original manga series, and it will also add an option to display manga-based sound effects when the car is drifting and hitting another car or the wall.

Sega also published a teaser video to help fans prepare for the stream. It has a sneak peek of the new Eurobeat song “SCRAMBLE EYES” by MOTSU vs A-One. The soundtrack will use Eurobeat songs again, after Arcade Stage Zero shifted to rock bands due to being based on the 2014-2016 movie trilogy. However, instead of the Avex-owned Super Eurobeat songs used in the TV anime and prior arcade games, the game will feature brand-new Eurobeat songs produced by A-One, which is well-known for the Toho Eurobeat albums.
