The Puma NES sneakers have stepped into the spotlight on the official website ahead of their December 4, 2020 debut. The $90 Future Rider shoes feature a black, grey, red, and white color scheme, calling attention to the NES system’s details and paying tribute to the original Super Mario Bros.

The shoes seem to channel the “playing with power” mentality. There’s a replica of the NES power button on the side of the shoe. An NES controller charm is threaded through one of the eyelets. Also, on each of the tongues there’s a patch replica of the Super Mario Bros. box art. Should someone look inside the shoe, there’s a reference to the games’ lava pits. The shoe itself is made of leather and suede. (Also, the leather controller charm can be removed, should someone want to protect it.)

Here’s a better look at the shoes from various angles.

This builds on Puma’s line of Nintendo and Super Mario-themed shoes. Back in October 2020, the company announced three pairs of sneakers inspired by Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Those will launch in November 2020.

The Puma NES Sneakers orders will open up 7am PT/10am ET on December 4, 2020.
