Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy IX physical Switch copies will be on the way relatively soon. The news comes from Square Enix Asia’s official Facebook page, where the company announced the release date as November 27, 2020. Update: Thanks to Siliconera reader GALA-MOS for the tip. The Facebook post is still live, though it is currently region-locked. We initially thought the post was taken down, but after logging into a Singaporean VPN, we can confirm that the Facebook post is still up.
The physical edition of Final Fantasy IX on Switch will include language support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Those interested in purchasing the Asia version can import a copy via Play-Asia. NintendoSoup screengrabbed Square Enix’s original post, as seen below.
Square Enix Asia seems to have a habit of posting then deleting announcements for the title’s physical edition. Back in October 2020, the company published a post and video to its Facebook account regarding the physical carts. This included images of the box art, language options, and more.
Additionally, Square Enix has released several physical editions in Asia for some of its other classic titles. Romancing SaGa 3, a Dragon Quest I, II, and III triple pack, and a Final Fantasy VII and VIII twin pack all appeared on the Asian market.
Physical carts for  Final Fantasy IX will release on November 27, 2020. The game is available to purchase digitally on the Nintendo eShop now.
