Some say Pikachu is the mascot of Pokémon, but that’s antiquated nonsense. Real fans know that the real mascot of Pokémon is Ball Guy, an in-game mascot in a bright red polo and tight, grey chino shorts. Truly, he looks like the perfect fit for a barbecue or golf tournament. Oh, except he has an enormous Pokeball for a head. If that sounds appealing, then wait until you hear this next part: a plush of him has just been made available for purchase around the globe.
The Ball Guy Poké Plush is a Pokémon Center original, and, until now, was exclusively available on the Japanese Pokémon Center where it released on September 19, 2020. The posable plush stands at 12 and a half inches tall and is available for $19.99.
The Pokécenter Store was also just joined by a handful of other popular figures from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield’s Galar region. The timing is convenient, too, considering the newest expansion for the games just released on October 22, 2020. It might be a good way to ride the excitement of the new content just a little bit longer (I say as I add Ball Guy to my shopping cart).
Kubfu, the fighting-type legendary from the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Isle of Armor DLC, is one of the newly available plush toys. It can be purchased for $16.99, while its two potential evolutions, Urshifu (Single Strike Style) and Urshifu (Rapid Strike Style) are available for $39.99.
Another standout plush is the Matcha Creme Alcremie Poké Plush. Alcremie is a fairy-type Pokémon that evolves from Milcery. Depending on the conditions of its evolution, the Alcremie will take on the appearance of a different sort of treat. The unconventional matcha green swirls contrast well with the bright red strawberries of the Pokémon meaning it is likely to standout from the rest of a collection.
The Ball Guy Poké Plush and more are immediately available online. Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, and both its expansion packs are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
