There’s a new sort of Stardew Valley multiplayer option on the way. This time, it has to do with couch co-op. You won’t need multiple instances anymore. Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone shared on Twitter that when update 1.5 arrives, Stardew Valley splitscreen co-op will come with it.

In a follow-up tweet, Barone went over how many people could end up playing together with Stardew Valley split-screen multiplayer. If someone is on a PC, then the screen could be split four ways. The minimum split is two ways, which was shown in an example. In it, one person was in a mine, while the other person was on the farm putting some ore into a furnace.

This is one of multiple additions confirmed for the next patch. Bananas will be added as a fruit too.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. As always this 1.5 update is only coming to currently supported systems. The PlayStation Vita is no longer receiving these sorts of patches, but people playing on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC can expect to see this feature. Barone hasn’t offered a release date for it yet, but did officially announce it back in February 2020.
