Originally, fans expected the fourth film sometime back in 2015. However, director Hideaki Anno delayed production due to mental health and his work on Shin Godzilla. The eight-year wait for Anno’s movie is nearly over now. Studio Khara tweeted out a new trailer to commemorate the revised date for the final Evangelion movie.

As reported by Dengeki Online, Studio Khara confirmed that fans can still use the exclusive movie ticket card with the new Evangelion 3.0+1.0 release date. This applies to fans who purchased the CD, Evangelion Finally.

Shortly after the fourth film’s delay earlier in 2020, Studio Khara also announced that Evangelion 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 would be free to watch for a limited time. Fans were able to watch via the EVA-Extra smartphone app and the company’s official Youtube channel. Fans can now use the EVA-Extra app to view updated posters and promotional materials for the film.

The new Evangelion 3.0+1.0 release date in Japan is January 23, 2021.
