Jump Rope Challenge Switch Players Already Passed 200 Million Jumps

Nintendo’s latest free novelty isn’t even a week old yet, and already it is doing some major numbers. The company took to its Twitter accounts across the world for a major reveal for what is, in the grand scheme of things, a relatively minor game. Everyone playing the Jump Rope Challenge Switch game that lets people virtually jump rope alone or with a friend has collectively passed 200 million jumps.

Here’s the tweet making the reveal.

In just three days, more than 200 million jumps in #JumpRopeChallenge have been made by players around the world! Thanks to all for playing and getting active!

As a reminder, Jump Rope Challenge Switch was made by developers during the COVID-19 pandemic. After working from home became common in Japan, they came together to create the novelty. In it, you hold Joy-Cons as though they were the ends of a rope and virtually jump rope. You can keep track of your progress on the screen, and it keeps tabs on how you’re doing over an extended period of time. (Also, it apparently reports back to Nintendo to let the company know how much jumping people have done.)

Jump Rope Challenge is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch. It is a free download. However, it is only temporarily free until the end of September 2020.
