The wait is over. The new TurboGrafx-16 Mini release date has been announced. Konami will be shipping out the $99.99 plug-and-play system in North America on May 22, 2020. The base model will give people a system and controller. However, there will also be a $119.98 bundle that includes the system and the Hori AC adapter. [Thanks, Engadget!]

This means the total delay for the plug-and-play system ended up being about two months. It was originally supposed to launch on March 19, 2020 in North America, Japan, and Europe. However, the COVID-19 coronavirus ended up delaying the release in most regions, though Japanese preorders of the PC Engine Mini shipped out as expected and the system has been available there since. (Even accessories for it were delayed for a while.) Now both the system and its 8BitDo controllers are preparing to launch.

As a reminder, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini will have almost 60 games on it, with some of them being untranslated Japanese games appearing outside the region for the first time on the system. Some of the most notable titles include multiple Bomberman entries, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Fantasy Zone, Ninja Gaiden, Snatcher, Splatterhouse, and Super Darius. However, the international version does not include Tokimeki Memorial, as it is only available on the PC Engine Mini. More details on each game are available on the official site.

The TurboGrafx-16 Mini will launch in North America on May 22, 2020.
