There’s some new update news coming to the world of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Two planned updates, the addition of playable character Zangetsu and a roguelike mode-replacing Randomizer feature, have release dates. Both of these updates will be launching for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC on May 7, 2020. That’s later this week! Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch version will take a little longer, as it’s set for either late May or early June with no exact date just yet.
This announcement comes from Jason Ryan over at the official website. If you want to play as Bloodstained‘s Zangetsu, once the update launches you’ll need to have finished the game and earned the Good Ending. Upon starting a new game, you’ll be able to choose Zangetsu and play the whole game as him, and he uses his sword and MP-based abilities instead of shards. The emphasis is pure combat for him he doesn’t get equipment, and things like crafting and story sequences are turned off.
The Randomizer is a feature that is pretty self-explanatory. It lets you start a new game with several options to tinker with, allowing players to mess around with things like drops, quests, and even save points. Once a player creates a game they can get the seed information and share it, competing with friends in time attack challenges.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC.
