EA Play 2020 Will Be Held When E3 2020 Would Have Been

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

For the last few years, EA abandoned E3. The company wouldn’t attend, but would hold its own EA Play event at around the same time as the convention. For example, EA Play 2019 was held before E3 2019. Now the company has announced the date for the all-digital EA Play 2020. People can “attend” EA Play Live on June 11, 2020.

The teaser appeared on Twitter on May 4, 2020. It confirmed that this will once again be a chance for the company to reveal news about existing games and make announcements for upcoming projects. Everything for what is essentially EA Play 2020 will take place via the official website the company has been using for these events for years.

June 11, 2020 was originally going to be the last day of E3 2020, prior to its cancellation.

This reveal means EA is the first company to confirm it will still hold a media briefing around the time when E3 would normally be held. Microsoft, Square Enix, and Ubisoft already committed to similar things, Bethesda won’t. (Coincidentally, some of those companies already RSVP-ed for the Summer Game Fest.) There’s also been a rumor suggesting there will be no June 2020 Nintendo Direct.

While an exact time hasn’t been announced, people can expect EA game announcements with EA Play Live on June 11, 2020.
