Fender’s 2020 Evangelion Asuka Telecaster draws inspiration from her plugsuit. The guitar’s body will feature a red-orange gradation with black stripes on the back and a neon green pickguard. Additionally, The fretboard also features a detailed inlay marking it as Unit-02, which is Asuka’s EVA unit. Furthermore, the neck plate will have a three-digit edition number and a special NERV logo.

Fender will include an original certificate featuring Asuka in a plugsuit with the guitar. Artwork for it will be handled by Rebuild of Evangelion director Kazuya Tsurumaki, who worked on each of the four movies in this series. Here’s a look at it:

April 2020 brought with it multiple announcements for Evangelion and the final entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion series. Evangelion Battlefields arrived on smartphones and Curry House CoCo announced that one lucky Japanese fan would be able to win an Eva-themed moped. Fans of the franchise will soon be able to raise their own Angel with Bandai’s new Tamagotchi. Also, Evangelion 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 started streaming for free on Khara Inc’s official YouTube in Japanese for a limited time.

Fender’s 2020 Evangelion Asuka Telecaster will cost ¥259,000, or about $2416.00, and will release sometime in mid-July 2020 via Fender’s Japanese website.
