Last month, Koei Tecmo revealed that they will be updating the Monster Rancher port on Nintendo Switch with new content, including more save data slots and new monsters, and in a series of Tweets this week, they clarified what they meant.
While the monsters were previously hinted to possibly be brand-new to the series, it has now been clarified that these ten species are not completely new, but are still monsters “from other continents” that aren’t currently in the Encyclopedia, meaning ten additions that likely originate from Monster Rancher 2.
Apart from the new additions, with the upcoming update, players will get one more save slot for free, but can also purchase extra save slots up to a max of 12 additional saves for 120 yen each. A save slot pack costing 980 yen will also be available.
Finally, more supported CD data is set to be added to the game, featuring around over 6,700 new supported CD data from CDs released from October 2019 to January 2020 in Japan. With the Switch and smartphones not reading CDs, the port uses a CD database feature instead, and you can read more about that in our previous report here.
The Monster Rancher Switch, Android, and Apple iOS versions are available in Japan.
