Bandai will be releasing limited edition Neon Genesis Evangelion themed Tamagotchi. These Evangelion Tamagotchi will allow fans to raise the Angels seen throughout the series. Over twenty types of Angels are possible to unlock and, with enough dedication, fans can even potentially raise popular characters like Rei Ayanami. Reservations for these Tamagotchi have begun, and they will officially release on June 13, 2020. Each one is priced at ¥2,300 (or around $20, roughly). [Thanks, GAME Watch!]

In addition to everything mentioned above, there are also mini-games you can engage in with your Evangelion Tamagotchi. These include battle training, where you will need to navigate your Angel away from threats like the Longinus spear. Additionally, forming a bond with your Angel is important. Mistreating your Tamagotchi will cause an A.T. Field to form around your Angel.

The Neon Genesis Evangelion toys will come in three variants. Fans can get their hands on the Eva-01 Test Type, Eva-02 Production Model, and Eva-00′ Proto Type Tamagotchis. Every model is clearly color coordinated to fit each of the protagonists of the Evangelion series. You can check out each of these below.

Bandai has also released a trailer showcasing these characters in action.

Other interesting Evangelion related or themed merchandise has popped up recently. Honda is currently holding a collaboration with Neon Genesis Evangelion to promote the upcoming release of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, or Shin Evangelion. The animated film is scheduled to release in Japan on June 27, 2020.

Neon Genesis Evangelion originally began its run in Japan in October 1995. Evangelion: Death (True)2, the edit of 1997’s Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth, appeared in 1998. The End of Evangelion appeared in 1997. The Evangelion Tamagotchi models will launch on June 13, 2020.
