LEGO Super Mario Preorders Also Include a Bonus Expansion

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The LEGO Group launched preorders for the LEGO Super Mario launch, starting with the required Super Mario Starter Course set. A couple Expansion Sets were also announced, although they aren’t included in the preorder launch. After that, a new listing appeared on the LEGO website, revealing a third Expansion Set. The fun part is that this new Expansion Set appears to be a freebie that comes with Super Mario Starter Course preorders.

The new LEGO Super Mario Expansion Set is the Monty Mole and Super Mushroom set. The set comes with a few “action blocks,” which interact with the main Super Mario figure. This includes a Stone-Eye, a Super Mushroom, and of course Monty Mole. You’ll also get some terrain bricks to help with building stages for our block(ier) plumber hero.

If you can’t acquire a Super Mario Starter Course preorder, the Monty Mole and Super Mushroom expansion set will be available as a separate purchase, as it is listed on the LEGO website for $14.99. This would likely be an ideal supplement gift to the Starter Course set, as the other two Expansion Sets are significantly more expensive than this one.

As a reminder for prospective purchasers, the Starer Course is straight-up required in order to get the full functionality out of the LEGO Super Mario line. That’s the only way to get the Super Mario figure, which is naturally the core of the line. Everything launches on August 1, 2020,.
