A Rebuild of Evangelion Asuka figure is coming back, but unfortunately people will need to wait a little longer to bring her home. When announcing a number of figures whose release dates have been pushed back due to the current state of affairs in the world and COVID-19 coronavirus, Kotobukiya confirmed the Asuka Shikinami Langley Q Plugsuit ver. :RE figure won’t be appearing in March 2020 as planned. Instead, it has slipped to April 2020.
This Rebuild of Evangelion Asuka figure actually first appeared after Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. It launched in November 2012, while the statue showed up in June 2013. As such, it’s a bit of a spoiler for the direction the character takes for the events of the third movie. Its rerelease is an identical take on the PVC 1/6th figure.
This Asuka figure is over eight and a half inches tall. The helmet she holds is actually a separate item and you would have the option of displaying her with or without it. When she will be available, she tends to be sold for $87.99. She also has a counterpart in Asuka Shikinami Langley Plugsuit ver. :Re, which is also based on the earlier Rebuild of Evangelion Asuka design. Both were sculpted by Tsukuru Shirahige.
This means Kotobukiya’s Rebuild of Evangelion Asuka Shikinami Langley Q Plugsuit ver. :RE figure will now come out closer to the debut of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0. Its release date was June 27, 2020, though it is unknown if that will be altered due to the spread of the coronavirus and its effect on Japanese theaters.
The original Neon Genesis Evangelion is now streaming on Netflix.
