Cygames announced today that they are bringing Shadowverse onto Nintendo Switch in the form of Shadowverse: Champions Battle, an all-new version of the game based on the upcoming Shadowverse anime.
This will be the company’s first console title developed for the Nintendo Switch. Nothing beyond a logo has been shown off, although Cygames states that the game will come out in 2020. That said, the basic gameplay is likely to be the same, or similar to that in the original Shadowverse. The official website also states that the game is for 1-2 players, meaning players will be able to battle locally on one Nintendo Switch. As the game is based on the anime, players can probably expect it to have a much more shonen vibe compared to the original game.
In the anime, Hiiro Ryuugasaki (CV: Gakuto Kajiwara) is an average young boy attending Tensei Academy, who one day obtains a smartphone with Shadowverse installed that falls out of the sky. Hiiro sets out on a journey where he will forge bonds with new friends, and face off against fearsome rivals and tourney opponents. A new trailer for the anime was released today, and you can check it out below:
Hiiro and the other anime characters will likely appear in Shadowverse: Champions Battle.
The Shadowverse anime will air in April 2020. Shadowverse: Champions Battle will release for Nintendo Switch in 2020. Shadowverse is available on iOS, Android, and PC.
