Following a few leaks and rumors last week, Activision’s upcoming free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone had its details leaked in a YouTube video that went up early.
In the now-deleted video by the YouTuber Chaos, we got to see about 11 minutes of gameplay with a few key details, so here’s what we know so far. The battle royale game will be a free-to-play title and will also be a standalone title, meaning you won’t need Modern Warfare. Furthermore, it will have cross-platform support and will have 150 players on the map at a time. Although it might be possible that we end up seeing it go up to 200 players. As for the party options, players can go in solo or in groups of duos or trios. Familiar maps will also return in the form of classic maps.
While it sounds like your standard battle royale, for the most part, it has a unique respawn mechanic called the “Gulag.” When players fall early in the match, they have a chance to respawn by beating an opponent one-on-one in the Gulag. Moreover, spectators will also get to participate by throwing rocks at the players in the duel. If one of the players in the 1v1 is a party member, the spectating ally can help by calling out the opponent’s location.
Call of Duty: Warzone is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
