The last major updates for both Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT arrive February 20 and March 5, 2020, respectively. According to producer Ichiro Hazama, online services will continue.

When Square Enix first launched Dissidia Final Fantasy, the developers had ambitions to break into the eSports scene with the title. They made efforts to showcase the game at events like EVO, but in the end, it never picked up the way they had hoped. However, considering the game originally released for arcades in November 2015, it’s had quite a run. The PlayStation 4 version, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, released worldwide in January 2018 for the PlayStation 4. The PC release followed in March 2019.

Director Takeo Kujiraoka also added that Square Enix “currently has no plans for a ‘Dissidia Final Fantasy 2‘.”
