Koei Tecmo Games and Gust producer Keisuke Kikuchi posted that the Fairy Tail game has been postponed in Japan from March 19 to June 25, 2020. The delay affects the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam versions. The European release date has also moved from March 20, also to June 25, 2020, with the North American date releasing the following day.
The delay is to further improve the quality of the game, more specifically the magic effects, event scene effects, and balance adjustment. The Fairy Tail game was originally announced last September with the creator of the manga, Hiro Mashima, responsible for supervising development.
A turn-based RPG, Fairy Tail will include over 30 hours of gameplay to complete the main story with episodes for each of the game’s characters. A recent trailer for the game took us on a tour of Magnolia town.
There will be two limited-editions for Fairy Tail. One, the Guild Box edition, limited to Japan, and including Fairy Tail game, B2 cloth poster, a special copy of the “Weekly Sorcerer”, 3 x 3D character cards, and a special sticker set.
A Digital Deluxe edition will release worldwide and include a special Grand Magic Games costume, a bonus Lacrima set, and an Atelier Ryza costume for Lucy. The Early Purchase Bonus will be a special costume for Erza.
Fairy Tail releases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam in Europe and Japan on June 25 and in North America on June 26.
