Phantasy Star Online 2 Region Locking Isn’t Planned ‘at This Moment’

The official Phantasy Star Online 2 Twitter account has been very active when it comes to responding to prospective players’ questions, and an interesting response has come up in regard to a potential region lock. Apparently, there won’t be one. When asked if the Phantasy Star Online 2 English release coming to North America would have a region lock on it, the account’s response said there were “no plans” for any kind of region lock for the MMORPG.

Here’s the official Phantasy Star Online 2 region lock response.

Previously, the immediately available versions of Phantasy Star Online 2 had region locks in place. This means people outside of the countries where it was officially released would have to use alternate means, such as a VPN, to access the game and play the SEA version. This could prove quite handy, as a European, Middle Eastern, and African release hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The account also offered an update on the Phantasy Star Online 2 closed beta test. When someone asked if everyone who signed up through the Xbox Insider Hub would be able to play. It noted, “If you managed to sign up via the Xbox Insider Hub, then you are in!” The beta will run February 7-8, 2020, and English and Japanese voice acting will be available.

Phantasy Star Online 2 will appear on the Xbox One and eventually PC in North America in Spring 2020.
