Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pays Respects To Melee In Latest Event Tourney

The latest event tourney in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is underway, and this time, it’s a tribute to Super Smash Bros. Melee. Even the event picture is a near-recreation of the original game’s character select screen.

As you might expect, this means that the Fighters originating from Melee are the stars this time, such as Princess Peach, Dr. Mario, and Ice Climbers. Stages and items will also feature ones that appeared in that critically acclaimed GameCube title. This might not come as a surprise, considering that the original N64 Super Smash Bros. was the focus of a previous tourney. We can also safely assume that Brawl and for Wii U/3DS will also get their turns later on.

The ‘A Tribute To Melee’ event is currently ongoing, and will last until January 6, 2020 at 6am UTC (10pm PT on January 5). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on Nintendo Switch.
