Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair got showcased during E3 2019 this past week, showing off the game’s changed-up 2.5D platforming and 3D overworlds.
During the showcase, Playtonic explained how Impossible Lair handles progression – by playing through levels, you free bees from the Beettalion that help out Yooka and Laylee in their journey. The more bees you free, the more hits you can take – and thus the ‘Impossible Lair’ becomes more possible. (Of course, if you’re just that good, the Impossible Lair is possible.)
Meanwhile, the Overworld is a place to solve puzzles to progress, but is also a place to have some downtime and interact with the characters, some who are returning and some who are new.
You can check out the first few levels and the overworld in the showcase below here:
Yooka-Laylee will launch on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. The original Yooka-Laylee is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
