It seems a delay is in Giga Wrecker Alt‘s future, but it fortunately seems limited to Japan. The Japanese Nintendo Switch product page has changed to a general 2019 release window for the game, but the release date in other regions remains May 2, 2019. (Thanks, Japanese Nintendo and Nintendo Life!)
This comes after Rising Star Games, the publisher, confirmed that there will be no delay in regions in the west. The European Nintendo Switch product listing still offers a May 2, 2019 release date. The exact reasons for the Japanese delay have not been revealed.
Giga Wrecker Alt is a Metroidvania-style game from Game Freak, the creators of Pokemon. It follows Reika, a young woman living in a post-apocalyptic world and been experimented on. As a result, she has Arms Creating and Handling Effect (ARCHE) abilities that let her acquire junk and use it as a weapon to to solve puzzles. Her goal is to defeat the robots who have taken over the world. The console versions have an NPC character who can come and help Reika with puzzles if you get stuck, a new localization, 20 more puzzle stages in the Campaign, and an optional Ironman difficulty level.
Giga Wrecker is immediately available on PCs. Giga Wrecker Alt will arrive on the Nintendo Switch outside of Japan on May 2, 2019, and in Japan in 2019. A release window has not been mentioned for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the game.
