In a recent interview with 4Gamer, Dead or Alive 6 producer Yohei Shimbori talked about the recently announced Dead or Alive 6 World Championship, which was announced at EVO Japan 2019.
Here are the highlights:
The Dead or Alive 6 World Championship announced at EVO Japan 2019 is the largest-scale official tournament ever held for the series. Could you tell us more about this development?
Yohei Shimbori, producer: “From just hearing the announcement, you might think it to be quite sudden, but in fact even during the DOA5 era, we held Battle Royal tournaments mainly in America. So for DOA6, we’d like to prepare an even bigger stage for these tournaments.
There are lots of players training for these tournaments, and we will have more prize money, and we are looking to organize these next year and beyond as well. The ultimate goal is to ‘Make DOA the world’s best entertainment’.
That said, we don’t have a history of holding large tournaments the way Street Fighter and Tekken did, so we’d like things that can only be done precisely because of who we are.”
Dead or Alive 6 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
