The February 14, 2019 console release of Nekopara Vol. 2 is going to have an additional surprise for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 owners. People will also get Nekopara Extra. Originally, this prequel was released on PCs in July 2018, five months after the PC release of Nekopara Vol. 2. (Thanks, 4Gamer!)
Nekopara Extra takes place six months before the events of Nekopara Vol. 1, as the Minaduki family has only just adopted Chocola and Vanilla. The two kittens, who previously only each other and had to work hard to survive, suddenly has a whole family around them to support them. Players get to watch and see how they adjust to life with new sisters Azuki, Cinnamon, Coconut, and Maple.
Apparently, playing through Nekopara Vol. 2 unlocks Nekopara Extra. This is an HD version of the prequel, which bumps up the resolution of CGs to 1920×1080 from 1280×720. While the PC version only supported English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese, this release also includes Simplified Chinese as a language option.
Nekopara Vol 2 and Nekopara Extra are both immediately available for PCs. They will both be available on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 via Nekopara Vol 2 on February 14, 2019.
