Xseed Games has released a statement concerning the PlayStation 4 version of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal. The Intimacy Mode will not be present in the console version of the game in the west. However, it will remain in the PC version.

Xseed Games’ full statement is as follows:

The release of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal will be slightly delayed as we remaster to remove the interactive “Intimacy Mode” from the PS4 version. The Steam version will release with that mode intact and will launch simultaneously with PS4. We are looking forward to sharing the release date shortly and appreciate your patience.

In a follow up statement, Xseed Games explained the reasoning behind the removal of Intimacy Mode from Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal on the PlayStation. It noted on Twitter, “We respect the wishes of the platform holder.” Sony is the platform holder, in this instance.

In Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal’s Intimacy Mode, people would be able to touch the heroines and possibly kiss them.

Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal is immediately available in Japan. It is expected to launch on the PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and Europe in Fall 2018.
