One of the staples in Konami’s Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side games is the ability to dress up. It’s not really about looking good, but rather a way to attract one of the dateable guys.

For example, certain guys like certain styles of clothing. If you dress in that style before a date, he’ll compliment you on your outfit. Also, guys want diversity and season-appropriate styles. Wearing the same outfit two dates in a row is going to earn you snide remarks, and wearing a tank top in winter will flabbergast him.

Konami is refining fashion for Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 3rd Story, which comes out in June 24, 2010. There will be lots of new clothing, but more importantly there will be mixing and matching to create new, more appealing styles. It’s interesting, because mixing and matching was discouraged in the previous two games, 1st Love and 2nd Season. Mixing three pieces of uncomplimentary clothing would trigger a "Danger" warning with skulls. It was a turn off.

In Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 3rd Story, mixing and matching will lead to new styles of fashion. There are gauges on the left screen, underneath the clothing preview that say Cute, Vivid, Sexy, Active, Natural and Chic. Going with a combination and equal balance of cute and sexy clothing could result in an ero-kawaii (erotic-cute) look. Different combinations of clothing will lead to different styles which the guys may (or may not) like. Konami has also confirmed that the player character will become more "stylish" as she plays. By dressing-up, combining clothes and talking to this edition’s fashion guru, Karen, you’ll level up your sense of style. You’ll then be able to acquire better clothing. Your clothing level appears on the left screen, under a gauge showing how warm your character’s clothes are. There are five stars, and the more stars you have filled in, the more stylish you are.
