A Kickstarter for a Sonic the Hedgehog board game, Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers, has launched. If it reaches $50,000 worth of funding by March 2, 2018, people will (hopefully) get a game about Sonic and his friends racing along a track.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers is designed by Benjamin Yamada, who previously made Way of the Fighter, and published by Shinobi 7. Players pick Sonic or one of the other characters from the series and race along the track boards, trying to collect as many rings and defeat as many Badniks as possible. The game comes with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Dr. Eggman miniatures, track sections, tokens and references cards. The $100 Super Pledge Kickstarter-exclusive version of the game also includes Super Sonic and sculpted miniature Buzz Bomber, Crabmeat, Moto Bug and Spinner miniatures.
A number of stretch goals have been listed for the Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers project. If it reaches $60,000, a token bag will be included. $70,000 adds a free Blaze the Cat expansion. $80,000 adds a Kickstarter-exclusive option for people to buy 50 plastic rings. $90,000 adds Sticks the Badger as a possible purchase option. $100,000 adds a Metal Stamp finish to Kickstarter-exclusive copies of Boss and Racer Profile cards. Finally, the $110,000 stretch goal would give people the option to buy a Shadow the Hedgehog Oil Ocean expansion with racer, boss cards and 6 Oil Ocean Track Sections.
If fully funded, the Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers game Super Pledge reward has a tentative October 2018 release window.
