FIFA is a series traditionally known as a staple brand on the PlayStation line of consoles, but surprisingly, the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 18 managed to outsell the PlayStation 4 version in Japan. [Thanks, Nintendo Soup]
According to Dengeki Online, the PlayStation 4 version sold 77,892 copies since launch until it dropped out of range of Top 50, while the Switch version has managed to chart on the Top 50 chart week after week, at a recorded 89,329 copies sold. In the past 3 weeks, the number of copies sold actually outnumbered launch sales in two of the weeks.
Here is a chart with the week-by-week sales (going by Dengeki Online numbers, also note that ‘Out of range’ has been given a value of zero for simplicity’s sake, as it means it didn’t sell enough to reach Top 50 at all):
Week | Nintendo Switch | PlayStation 4 |
1 | 13,244 | 50,325 |
2 | 5,218 | 11,250 |
