By Top-down adventure game Tarotica Voo Doo puts players in a dangerous (and bizarre) situation, one where they’ll have to save a family who’s insisting on eating their memorial dinner despite the fact that they live in a haunted house that’s about to be hit by a crashing plane.
Players control a sword and shield-wielding hero in Tarotica Voo Doo, one who is determined to help the family survive. Players will need to navigate the sprawling haunted house, dealing with whatever monsters they come across in live, rhythmic combat, watching for openings in their animations to know when to hit and when to raise their shield. Luckily, dying only slows the player down, as they’re allowed to come back and try again without losing progress.
Players will need the practice that comes with each fight, as there are no power-ups that will improve their strength. Not only this, but Tarotica Voo Doo’s puzzles will challenge their minds, forcing them to figure out the mechanisms and machines that are all over the house in order to pass through it, as well as find out how to best cook the memorial meal for the family so they’ll finally start evacuating.
Tarotica Voo Doo was designed for the MSX by Ikushi Togo, a developer who has been working with the MSX since the 80’s. The game will run on Steam using a licensed MSX emulator, and will also feature all the tools used to create the game so players can tinker with it or learn how to make their own MSX games.
Tarotica Voo Doo is set to release this month, according to its Steam page.
