A demo has released for rhythm-based RPG Underhero, letting players learn a little bit about life after being a villain’s underling while also getting good at attacking to the beat.
Underhero has players acting as a former underling of the villainous Mr Stitches, one who wants to end his former boss’ reign of terror. To do that, he’ll need to restore the power of Elizabeth the IV, a magical sword hilt, by exploring a colorful world, beating up monsters, and interacting with his former co-villains to learn their secrets.
Underhero’s combat is handled through live segments where timing will be key. Players can hit enemies with a slingshot, heavy hammer, and sword, each of which works better on different styles of enemy. They will also have a shield that can block or parry attacks. Using these defensive skills with the right timing will stop a foe from damaging the player, but using the weapons with the right timing – following the beat – will reward them with extra damage. It’s not necessary to use them to the beat to succeed, but it will help players wipe out foes faster.
The Underhero demo is available now from GameJolt and Steam.
