Konami sent out a press release earlier in the week, explaining what Love Plus + adds to the girlfriend simulation experience its predecessor introduced. On the feature list are the obvious customization elements you’d expect like more clothing styles, hairstyles, hair colors etc. , but also more interesting features like traveling to vacation spots and new "communication functions.
They’ve also confirmed that the game is compatible with Love Plus save data, and that you’ll be able to continue from your previous game profile, which is important in order to let each individual game remain in character. Meanwhile, a translated Famitsu report with producer Akari Uchida reveals that LovePlus + will be the third DS game to use a 4 gigabit cartridge.
The most interesting part of Konami’s press release was this: "KONAMI is moving forward with multifaceted projects involving “LOVEPLUS.” Some of the various roll-outs in the works include creating a manga version; putting it into a mini-game for “The ☆ BishiBashi,” a KONAMI game machine for amusement facilities; and the sale of figurines and other related products."
We’ve said before on the site that Love Plus has the potential to be a highly-customized experience that can cater to a wide demographic by focusing on different settings, ages and themes. It should be interesting to see if Konami feel the same way, especially considering the potential of a 3DS overhaul. Love Plus + is scheduled for a summer 2010 release in Japan.
