By Boku, the cube bunny, is out looking for Puzzle Cubes hidden throughout the blocky environments of Bokube, and players will have to twist stages, deal with cranky animals, and use blocks with varied properties to help them out.
Bokube takes place across eight varied worlds, each of which offers a different look and various new mechanics and blocks to work with. Within those worlds, there will be seventy different puzzling stages, each offering four hidden Puzzles Blocks that can be found by poking around the environments or fiddling with puzzles, drawing inspiration from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Players can expect to do a lot of pushing and pulling with blocks, dealing with each one’s unique properties as they progress through the stages.
Bokube is designed to be light and fun, using a cute, blocky art style for its characters and world. That being said, the game will not hold players’ hands, expecting them to learn the mechanics on their own, dealing with challenging puzzles that seem to go against the cute, cheerful nature of the game’s visuals.
Bokube is currently halfway through development, with an early demo available through Itch.io. Should players enjoy hanging out with the game’s adorable cast, they can support it on Kickstarter. It is projected to release late this year.
