Lecarde’s journey will carry him throughout France, dealing with French noblemen who are actually demons. Players will find themselves in actual locations around historical France, such as the Auberge Rouge, and play through a story inspired by fiction, history, and historical figures from the era.

Even if they’re not familiar with the French countryside, players who enjoyed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will find themselves instantly familiar with Lecarde Chronicles 2’s sub-weapon systems, and will be hurling crosses and holy water in no time. They will also feel at home with the game’s regular weapons, which features all manner of different offensive capabilities through swords, spells, and summoned creatures that will help beat back the evils lurking in France.

Players will also be familiar with some of the game’s cast, as Douglas Rye, who played Dracula in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, has been cast as the game’s villain, while Robert Belgrade, voice actor for Alucard in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, will be reprising his role. It is unclear what relationship will find himself in with the legendary vampire, though.

Lecarde Chronicles 2 features several new systems, songs, and locations to make it stand out from its inspirations. It takes place in a large open world with some unique locations, along with some all new music to complement a few remixes of classic Castlevania tracks. It also has a combat system where players can charge two types of energy, either Holy or Von Viltheim, using these to fuel different types of buffs and attacks.
