The protagonist of Crystalline finds himself lost on the magical fantasy world of Terra, but a chance meeting with Leanna, a Mage-Knight sent to investigate odd magical energies will set him on a path to find out more about the world, its inhabitants, and his reasons for arriving there.
Players are able to shape their journey through Terra through many different decisions. The developer touts that the game will have “hundreds of decisions leading to branching paths”, all of which will let the player personalize their character through the relationships, answers, and paths they choose to take.
Crystalline also promises a deep relationship system, where player actions won’t just decide whether a player gets closer to certain characters, but also how that relationship takes shape and what the other character feels for them over time.
All of Crystalline’s characters are fully animated, giving them a range of facial expressions and body language. They will also all be voice acted.
A Crystalline demo is available from the game’s Kickstarter site. It is projected to release before the end of the year.
